Hunza Batura Trek is a fascinating experience of an easy stroll along with a flower-strewn gully between the lateral moraine of Batura Glacier and the mountains. It provides breathtaking views of high Peaks like Ultar (7388), Shispare (7611m), Passu peak (7284m), Karun Koh (7164m), and others in the Shimshal region. From Fatimahil you can have an unforgettable view of the formidable North face of Batura massif.
Hunza Batura Trek is halfway between Kukhil and Guchsum is the wide plateau of Shelmin where the Urthum brook flows from the North. This is a much tougher route than Kilik or Mintaka but not a technical one. The scenery will simply sweep you off your feet 60 Km long Batura Glacier, one of the longest glaciers, is nestled between some of the beautiful high mountains of the world. Most of the trek is an easy stroll along the flower-filled ablation valley between the lateral moraine and the mountain and includes a crossing of the glacier.
Hunza Batura Trek is especially recommended for those who intend to do short walks for one to five days. It has varieties for those as well who take interest in long treks of up to ten days. However, a round trip starting at Borith Lake and concludes at Batura near Passu is considered a rewarding walk. Most parts of this trek are easy with wild followers and great summer pastures. The only difficult part is grossing glacier. The panoramic views of Batura 7785m, Passu 7284m & Shisper Peak 7611m is superb. You will meet very friendly Wakhi people with their cattle in summer pastures who offer yogurt, buttermilk & fresh milk etc. to all visitors.
